Ready to turn learning into momentum? The Upskill-A-Thon brings together free courses, skill-building challenges, and cash prizes in a two-month experience hosted by United Way Wisconsin. It’s learning with purpose and a little friendly competition. Sign up, skill up, and see how far you can go.

How Upskill-A-Thon Works

Explore any course or learning pathway available through Community Upskill and learn at your own pace. Each completed course earns you one point, and you’ll upload your certificate of completion to track your progress. Completed pathways earn an additional 10 points, helping you build momentum faster. The more you learn, the more points you earn, and top point-earners will win cash prizes.

How to Participate

1. Register

Register for the Upskill-A-Thon by completing the participant registration form.

Participant ID

Once you submit the form, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your unique participant ID. Please save this ID, as you’ll use it when submitting certificates throughout the Upskill-A-Thon.

2. Create a Free LinkedIn Learning Account

All Community Upskill courses and learning pathways are hosted on LinkedIn Learning. You’ll need a free LinkedIn account to participate. Already have a LinkedIn account? You’re all set—no need to create a new one.

3. Start Learning

Browse courses and learning pathways on Community Upskill and select what interests you most. You’ll be directed to LinkedIn Learning to complete the videos and quizzes included in each course or pathway.

You can take as many courses or pathways as you’d like during the Upskill-A-Thon. Learn at your own pace and come back anytime to explore more opportunities.

Only courses and pathways available through Community Upskill count toward the Upskill-A-Thon.

4. Submit Certificates

After completing a course or learning pathway, LinkedIn Learning will provide a certificate of completion. To earn points, upload your certificates using the certificate submission form and include your participant ID.

Don’t wait until the end, download and submit certificates as you go to make sure everything is counted.

Certificates must be completed and submitted between 12:01 a.m. on February 1 and 11:59 p.m. on March 31.

5. Points & Prizes

How points are earned:

  • 1 point for each completed course
  • 10 points for each completed learning pathway

Be sure to submit both course certificates and pathway certificates to earn the maximum number of points.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top individual point-earners:

  • $1,000 — 1st Place Highest overall point total
  • $500 — 2nd Place – Second-highest point total
  • $250 — 3rd Place Third-highest point total
  • $100 — 4th Place – Fourth-highest point total
  • $50 — 5th Place – Fifth-highest point total

Contest rules & details: Participants must be legal residents of Wisconsin and provide a valid address. By registering, participants agree to be contacted. In the event of a tie in points, the prize will be awarded based on the earliest submitted certificate. Winners will be notified by their chosen communication preference. Cash prizes may be subject to taxes. Prize winners are responsible for understanding and meeting any applicable tax obligations. If you have questions, please contact us.
